Main types of air filters for trucks and replacement cycles

2024-05-06

Truck air filters are mainly of the following types:

1. Direct-flow paper filter air filter: This air filter is widely used in trucks. The filter element made of resin-treated microporous filter paper is installed in the air filter shell, and the upper and lower surfaces of the filter element are sealing surfaces. When the butterfly nut is tightened to firm the air filter cover on the air filter, the upper sealing surface and the lower sealing surface of the filter element are closely attached to the matching surface at the bottom of the air filter shell of the air filter cover.

2. Centrifugal air filter: This type of air filter is mostly used in large trucks. The air enters the swirl tube tangentially, produces high-speed rotating motion in the swirl tube, and uses the centrifugal force generated by high-speed rotation to filter out the foreign matter in the air quickly. Centrifugal air filter has the advantages of good filtering effect and light weight, and can be used repeatedly.

3. Two-stage air filter: This air filter usually includes two filtration stages to provide a more efficient filtration effect.

4. Two-stage desert air filter: This type of air filter is mostly used in harsh working environments, such as concrete mixing trucks, sand and gravel transport dump trucks, etc. Due to the high dust concentration, the ordinary filter can not meet the requirements, and it is necessary to choose a two-stage desert air filter.

5. Inertial air filter: This filter uses the principle of inertia to make the air containing dust vortex through the blade ring or swirl tube, and the impurity particles are thrown out and deposited on the filter due to inertia. It can filter out more than 80% of dust particles.

6. Pulse type automatic air filter: This filter uses the pulse formed by the pressure difference of the gas to complete the automatic drainage mode, and the filtered gas will be discharged in time through the exhaust hole, which is simple in structure and easy to use. It is mainly suitable for filtering the air of the truck automatic inflation system.

Please note that different brands and models of trucks may require different types of air filters, so when choosing and buying, make sure to choose an air filter that is compatible with your truck.

Truck air filters are usually replaced every 15,000 kilometers or once a year.

However, the specific replacement cycle may vary depending on the use of the vehicle and the driving environment.

If the truck is often driven in dusty or cloudy places, you need to shorten the replacement cycle. In addition, different brands, models and engine types of trucks, their air filter inspection replacement cycle may also be different. Therefore, before maintenance, it is recommended to consult the relevant provisions in the maintenance manual.

The main function of the air filter is to filter impurities in the air and provide clean gas for the engine to do work. If the dirty air filter is used for a long time, it may lead to insufficient engine intake and incomplete fuel combustion, resulting in unstable engine operation, decreased power and increased fuel consumption. Therefore, it is very important to keep the air filter clean and timely replacement.

The above information is for reference only, if necessary, it is recommended to consult a professional car maintenance personnel.
